Campbell Park and Grand Union Canal, Milton Keynes

It is so easy to forget what is nearby, having worked for many many years in Milton Keynes I forget some of the hidden gems it has, more than just a shopping centre and a place to work.

We wanted to get out and enjoy the sunshine as my husband is recovering for major surgery, so we couldn't go far, but wanted to watch the 'world go by' in the sunshine.

Boats were reasonably frequent, this stretch of the canal doesn't have locks for 15 miles, so I guess popular for a quick outing.  Boats can be hired further up the river at MK Marina.

There is a free car park at the bottom of Campbell Park, just running alongside the canal, near the cricket club.  There is other parking nearer the shopping centre for the park too.

There are some benches along the path, plenty of grass for a blanket or a deck chair.

NB there are no facilities in the immediate area.

The park is large and there is a big hill if you want a bit of exercise...we used to walk over there at a lunchtime with a walking club, also we went to Linford Wood for the bluebells, and city gardens.

Here are a few links with information:

this is a great blog with loads of walks around MK
