St Neots

I had a girls day out to St Neots recently and it has more to offer than I realised, there is a large car park on the edge of the town (payment required), next to the river, and you can sit by there before or after heading into town, take deckchairs and a picnic lunch if you fancy.

Just cross the river on the road bridge and you will be in the town.  The town has a mix of independent shops, small chains, charity shops and a variety of places to eat, along with Beales the mini department store, that stocks a number of well known lines.  Some of the buildings are really lovely, great architecture if you look around, so don't forget to look up.

There are auction rooms near the town, we didn't visit them, it is on my list to do one day.

Art and craft wise there isn't much in the town now, but on the outskirts of the town (a short car drive) there is a fabric shop Habby Days, and not far from there Cath Kidston factory shop.

There are a good range of places to eat and drink, check down the alley ways there are some little places tucked away.  We had homemade cheese scones in https://www.poppysvintagetearoom.com/ was lovely and the sun shone, so we sat outside.

It is just around 30 mins from Ampthill via A1.
